Four Lions
About three quarters of the way through Four Lions the laughs stop coming and it all gets a little serious, and this is no bad thing, a film promising to explore religious fundementalism in a thought provoking way comes across as slightly more appetising as a comedy. That said, this isn’t all laughing at terrorists, its about a whole plethora of other social issues …occasionally topped with exploding farm animals. Its all a little sad, which means it has done its job, and I guess if just one person who watches this film decides to explore the issues it deals with in a little more depth it could be seen as a success, if another decides to quote “rubber dingy rapids” endlessly that is also (a different) sort of success…
