Bombay Beach
Bombay Beach is well worth a watch, its about three groups of people in one of the poorest parts of America. What is quite cool is that Red, an old guy who seems to have lived through everything lives in Slab City, one of the places Christopher visits in “Into the Wild”, its pretty crazy to see what it is really (as really as possible) like. This isn’t entirely observational documentary, which is difficult to explain unless you give it a watch, but the film maker has made some pretty interesting interventions here which all talk in some way to what is going on in the peoples lives who she is filming. Most importantly, if you watch the “where are they now” pieces on the DVD you can see that it really did change some lives. It is worth watching for this part alone, but add to this that despite the circumstances of the people who live there, this is a fantastically beautiful place.
